TheIndonesia.co - President Prabowo Subianto has shown a deep commitment to strengthening Indonesia's air defense capabilities, according to Marshal Mohamad Tonny Harjono, the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Air Force (TNI-AU).

According to Antara News Agency, speaking at the Air Force’s 79th anniversary celebration in Jakarta, Harjono expressed gratitude for the president's focus on modernizing the TNI-AU’s defense equipment and systems.

"We are fortunate that President Prabowo is prioritizing the advancement of Indonesia’s air defense,” he said.

Marshal Harjono highlighted the importance of this modernization in the face of evolving national security threats, noting that new, advanced military equipment is scheduled to arrive soon. He emphasized that updating the Air Force’s resources is crucial for effectively addressing both conventional and non-conventional threats, such as cyberattacks and drone warfare.

Cybersecurity, in particular, poses a growing risk, with data security being a vital aspect of national defense.

"The Indonesian Air Force must prepare comprehensively to counter these threats," Marshal Harjono stated.

The Air Force is expecting to receive various modern defense systems this year, including French Rafale fighter jets. The TNI-AU has already begun training pilots and engineers to operate these new aircraft. In November 2025, Indonesia will also receive Airbus A400M heavy transport planes. Additionally, Indonesia plans to replace its Chinese-made CH4 drones with Turkish-made Anka drones.

To enhance cybersecurity, the TNI-AU has established the Cyber Education Squadron 506 in Bogor, West Java, to better address digital threats. Harjono expressed confidence that President Prabowo’s continued support would further strengthen Indonesia’s military capabilities and safeguard its sovereignty.
