TheIndonesia.co - Vinfast, the Vietnamese automotive company, has announced its plans to construct an electric vehicle (EV) factory in Subang, West Java, with an investment of IDR4 trillion (approximately US$237 million).
According to Antara News Agency, the factory will cover 120 hectares of land and aims to produce 50,000 vehicles annually. Construction is set to begin shortly after Ramadan, with completion expected by next year. The factory will produce various types of vehicles, with prices ranging from IDR200 million (US$12,000) to IDR600 million (US$35,000).
This investment commitment was made during a meeting between Vinfast representatives and President Prabowo Subianto.
In addition to the EV factory, Vinfast is also exploring opportunities in Indonesia’s energy sector, including plans to invest in solar power plants (PLTS) in West Nusa Tenggara and wind power plants (PLTB) in Sulawesi. Furthermore, the company aims to establish between 30,000 and 100,000 public electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLUs) across Indonesia, particularly in Java, with an expected investment of up to US$1 billion.
The Indonesian government has pledged full support for this project, prioritizing its swift construction to maximize the positive impact on the local community.
