TheIndonesia.co - The Indonesian Navy is working diligently to enhance its combat capabilities and foster cooperation with other military forces to ensure the preservation of maritime security in the Indo-Pacific region, according to Chief of Staff Admiral Muhammad Ali.
According to Antara News Agency, when speaking at the Ottawa Conference on Security and Defence on Thursday, Admiral Ali highlighted several recurring violations in the Indo-Pacific, including armed robbery at sea, piracy, illegal fishing, drug smuggling, and human trafficking.
To address these threats, the Indonesian Navy has focused on bolstering its combat capabilities, enabling it to take decisive action against perpetrators that challenge Indonesia's maritime sovereignty in the region.
"The Indonesian Navy continues to modernize and strengthen its organization to ensure maritime security stability, including enhancing combat readiness and expanding law enforcement and humanitarian assistance," Admiral Ali stated.
Additionally, the Navy has been reinforcing its cooperation with military forces from other nations, a strategy aimed at strengthening maritime defense across the Indo-Pacific.
Admiral Ali expressed confidence that by building such international partnerships, the collective military strength needed to protect maritime sovereignty would grow, while fostering stronger bilateral ties between countries in the region.
The Ottawa Conference on Security and Defence is seen as a crucial platform for supporting this collaborative effort, ultimately contributing to the stability of maritime security.
