According to Antara News Agency, The BRICS group, founded as an alternative to the G7, now includes 10 countries, with Indonesia recently added to the list.
“We thank India for supporting our permanent membership in BRICS,” President Prabowo said during a joint statement with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House in New Delhi.
Prabowo noted that the cooperation between the two nations would contribute to global stability and regional collaboration. He also highlighted the broad areas in which Indonesia and India would enhance cooperation, including trade, defense, investment, tourism, health, energy, digital affairs, AI, and IT.
The President revealed that he had instructed his officials to streamline regulations and reduce bureaucracy to ensure swift follow-up on the cooperation agreements. “I will continue to issue necessary directives to accelerate and strengthen economic cooperation with India,” he affirmed.
In addition, President Prabowo emphasized Indonesia's commitment to prioritizing its long-term strategic partnership with India. During the bilateral meeting, both countries signed several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) covering various sectors.
He described the discussions as “intensive and open” and thanked the Indian government for its warm hospitality.
