The disaster mitigation office (BPBD) in Nagan Raya revealed the news that on the evening of Tuesday, June 14, peatland fire was extinguished on two different locations in the regency.
“Alhamdulillah, hotspots in two locations have been put out, and there’s no more fire on the locations,” the office’s secretary Nazaruddin said on Tuesday, as reported by Antara.
The locations of the fire were two-hectare area in Puloe Kruet village in Darul Makmur subdistrict and a one-hectare area in Padang Payang village in Kuala Pesisir subdistrict.
Nazaruddin said the effort to stop the fire was done by BPBD Nagan Raya, the police, and the military, and it started early in the day.
Five water pumps were deployed to the locations to assist the effort.
However, officials are still working to find out the cause of fire, as confirmed by Nazaruddin.
“Fire have been put out, and only smokes left at the locations. Recently, it has been raining there.”
