TheIndonesia.co - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Qatar's Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a framework for strategic dialogues between the two nations.
According to Antara News Agency, the signing took place during a bilateral meeting at the Amiri Diwan Palace in Doha, Qatar, on Sunday, April 13, as reported by the Indonesian Presidential Secretariat.
The agreement, titled the MoU on Strategic Dialogues between the Governments of Indonesia and Qatar, was signed by Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono and Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.
This MoU marks a significant step in Indonesia-Qatar relations. It paves the way for annual strategic dialogues between the countries’ foreign ministers and includes provisions for senior official meetings as groundwork for these high-level discussions.
The agreement also allows for the creation of an ad hoc working group to implement specific initiatives aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation.
Areas of focus include politics, regional and international affairs, defense, security, the economy, energy, agriculture, food security, tourism, science and technology, health, youth, sports, and the protection of migrant workers.
Additionally, both nations affirmed their commitment to deepen collaboration in multilateral forums and work together on global challenges.
During the visit, President Prabowo and Emir Al Thani co-chaired a bilateral meeting attended by their respective delegations and later held a private discussion. The Emir hosted a state luncheon in honor of the Indonesian delegation.
Following the engagements in Qatar, President Prabowo continued his Middle East trip by departing for Amman to meet with King Abdullah II of Jordan.
