TheIndonesia.co - The government of Bandung City in West Java is seeking to establish a partnership with Nanning City, China, to collaborate in various sectors, including artificial intelligence (AI), agriculture, healthcare, and the green economy. This potential cooperation was discussed during a meeting on Tuesday between Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan and a representative from Nanning City.

According to Antara News Agency, Mayor Muhammad Farhan expressed strong support for the collaboration, emphasizing its importance for accelerating innovation across Bandung's key sectors.

"This marks Bandung's 15th sister city partnership, and we are hopeful it will open doors for advancing technology in AI, agriculture, healthcare, and the green economy," he said.

A major focus of the cooperation is to enhance the agricultural sector in Bandung through the application of modern technologies from Nanning. The Mayor pointed out that the goal is to increase agricultural efficiency and improve access to tech-driven health services in the city.

“We are eager to explore how agricultural technology from Nanning can be implemented in Bandung, and how their advanced health services can be further developed here," he added.

The green economy is another key area of focus for the collaboration. Mayor Farhan highlighted Bandung's potential to benefit from Nanning's innovative waste processing technologies, particularly their systems that convert waste into renewable energy and operate with a residue-free approach.

“Nanning's waste-to-energy technologies and their residue-free systems are two areas we are very interested in,” he said.

As a next step in this collaboration, a Bandung delegation is scheduled to visit Nanning in September 2025 to further explore these opportunities.

Nong Shengwen, a representative of the Nanning delegation, emphasized the significance of AI in the partnership. He noted that Nanning has become a hub for AI development in China and expressed their readiness to share their expertise with Bandung.
