TheIndonesia.co - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) President Director, Didiek Hartantyo, has announced that the homecoming flow during the 2025 Eid holiday period is expected to reach its peak on Friday, March 28.
According to Antara News Agency, in an interview on March 24, Hartantyo noted that the government’s work-from-anywhere (WFA) policy for employees in government agencies and certain private companies has prompted early travel, with many people beginning their journeys 10 days ahead of Eid al-Fitr, around March 23-24.
“The peak of the homecoming flow is expected to occur on March 28 and 29,” Hartantyo said during his visit to Gambir Station.
The Minister for Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform issued Circular No. 2 of 2025 on March 5, allowing civil servants (ASN) to work from anywhere from March 24 to March 27. This policy aims to support the increased public mobility during the national holiday period, which also includes the Nyepi 1947 and Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijri celebrations. As a result, heads of government agencies have been given the flexibility to adjust ASN duties to a work-from-home (WFH) or work-from-anywhere (WFA) model.
For passengers like Rani, traveling to Semarang in Central Java, the WFA policy has been a welcome change, offering more flexibility to work remotely from her hometown. “It makes it easier for me to perform my duties while spending more time with my family,” she stated.
Creative industry worker Ghea also praised the flexible work arrangement, which allowed her to travel earlier and save on ticket costs. "This is great. I get to go home sooner and spend more time with my loved ones, plus I can get cheaper tickets," Ghea explained.
