TheIndonesia.co - Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin has announced that over one million individuals have registered for the government’s Free Health Screening programme since its launch on February 10, 2025.

According to Antara News Agency, speaking to the press after attending a health screening event for ride-hailing drivers, Sadikin revealed that the daily registration rate has risen to 90,000 people. He expressed optimism that the number of registrants would continue to grow, with a target of reaching 50 million participants by the end of 2025.

“To hit our 50 million goal, we need about 150,000 people registering every day,” Sadikin said, emphasizing the importance of increasing daily participation by 50,000 individuals to meet this ambitious target.

He highlighted the critical role of partnerships in expanding the program's reach, pointing to the collaboration between the Ministry of Health and ride-hailing service Grab as an example. "Much like the COVID-19 vaccination initiative, we hope this number will keep rising," Sadikin added.

The minister noted that the growing number of registrants signals strong community enthusiasm for the health services being provided by the government. He also emphasized that the Free Health Screening programme is one of the largest health initiatives of the Ministry of Health, offering vital screenings for conditions such as heart disease and mental health issues.

Sadikin further stressed that alongside the health screening initiative, the government is working to reduce the incidence of tuberculosis (TB) and plans to open 66 new hospitals in Indonesia’s most underserved regions.
